Contacting the Foundation

The Foundation strongly encourages telephone inquiries and, when possible, meetings or site visits will be scheduled. By policy, individual officers and directors of the Foundation do not discuss potential applications with prospective grantees.

Proposals submitted without contacting the Foundation before the grant deadline will not receive priority consideration.

The Cabell Family Society, Inc.

The Robert G. Cabell, III and Maude Morgan Cabell Foundation, sometimes referred to as “The Cabell Foundation”, is not affiliated with the Cabell Family Society, Inc.

The Cabell Family Society, Inc., formerly “The Cabell Foundation, Inc.” is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Cabell family genealogical and historical information and original family graveyards, primarily in Nelson County, Virginia. Members include descendants of Dr. William Cabell and Eliabeth Burks Cabell and other individuals interested in the purposes of the organization. The Cabell Foundation is continuing to monitor the impact of the COVID19 crisis on our community and offer essential support to our nonprofit partners. Meeting the basic human needs of residents and offering Special Assistance grants to organizations facing short and anticipated long-term operating challenges remain a high priority for the Foundation. Targeted recovery phase efforts will require support in 2021. Therefore, the Foundation will NOT conduct an open competitive March grant cycle. A Fall cycle has been tentatively planned. Please contact the Foundation office to discuss projected operational needs as a result of the COVID crisis or new projects in development for 2021-22.
